Let's begin with my name Robyn... Here's how Chinese friends pictured me... They gave me the name, Lan Juan, which means elegant flower or bird of Spring. I thought this a wonderful tribute.On the heels of my PhD graduation in 2004, Ellen Weber told me to pack my bags for six weeks in China.
We led MITA graduate courses in leadership and ethics for business and education leaders ... a most amazing experience. Many of the thoughts I had about Chinese people were turned upside down when we worked and shared many meals with them. We learned first-hand about the people and their culture. The Chinese people we grew to know showed extraordinary kindness, inquisitiveness and creativity.Chinese leaders presented Ellen and me with crystal trophies that highlight "Honor and Responsibility." ... A surprise and a real honor.
My husband and I live in an old Stagecoach Inn built in 1836. And, there were some bullet holes in the wall of the bar room so it evidently was lively... and still is when we seemingly burst at the seams when we host large family parties.
It's fun to devise ways to connect to my grandsons with some adventure. Here you'll see us ad-libbing a puppet show...Pictured below you'll see the whole crew. Carl and I have two sons and a daughter and we've been blessed with five grandsons.
