Growth Mantra

What if...economic growth as a concept is overrated ?

The Western world
economies are in impatient waiting for the new economic cycle to start. Growth will save them, conventional wisdom goes. Economic growth.

Plus 2 %. Plus 4 %. And every other year more and more. Again and again. Growth and profit.

Is this expectation realistic ? Is this expectation really needed ?

That's what I started asking my self after hearing BBC Business news. What if economies without growth ( or minimal growth ) is ''the new normal'' ?

How this relates to something some economists call sustainable economies ?
I don't have an answer yet, but try to look for that trend.

It is very interesting to see how Britain forms and supports so called Local Enterprise Partnerships

“The knowledge and expertise of the private sector, local authorities and their local communities will be crucial as we work to create a better environment for business and ensure that everyone has access to the opportunities that growth brings.”

Again : European Union Is Dead !

Just like many other unnatural unions and fucked federations

Sometimes people just think I am kinky. Might be ;)

But when I wrote recently about European Union and the claim that it's finished business or shall we say ''the dream'', I had a good intuition reading.

Now I can point my readers to the recent article in the US magazine Newsweek about the new world order.
Backup argument for my intuition :))

Where once diplomacy defined borders, now history, race, ethnicity, religion, and culture are dividing humanity into dynamic new groupings.

Soros: The worst market crisis in 60 years

Not just an usual boom and bust cycle. Dollar fall off the race.

George Soros isn't writing a blog but he writes a column for the London's Financial Times. His last column is diagnosis for the financial crisis just upon the World.
More or less, it's all what more couragous analysts and finance expert do talk for years. Now, the mess is huge. I would need to buy the book ''The Long emergency'' by James Howard Kunstler ( who talks more about oil crisis, not financial crisis ) and perhaps his new book '' World made by hand''. Still, there's is conclusion in the Soros article with a bit of relief when he says:

Although a recession in the developed world is now more or less inevitable, China, India and some of the oil-producing countries are in a very strong countertrend. So, the current financial crisis is less likely to cause a global recession than a radical realignment of the global economy, with a relative decline of the US and the rise of China and other countries in the developing world.
